An Engagement to Fall For

It's officially fall, my favorite season in New England. I love the cold and drizzly days that keep you cozied up at home. I love how the gray skies bring out the vibrant colors of the changing leaves. I love the smell and feel of the crisp autumn air as it whistles through the trees, cultivating everyone with the magic it brings. #fall

A little bit of that magic followed me to West Boylston, MA, where I joined Ana and James for their engagement session at the Old Stone Church. I've known Ana and James for almost four years now. Ana and I met during an internship with the New Bedford Police Department (I know, pretty far out from photography), and instantly bonded after realizing we both grew up in my hometown of St. Petersburg, FL! Ana is such a sweetheart, and James is her perfect complement. The two met seven years ago through mutual friends, and have only grown more in love over the years. They have two adorable boxers, they love ALL New England sports teams and are dedicated fans, and travel up to New Hampshire and Maine as often as they can to enjoy the magnificent outdoor scenery. The location for this shoot, chosen by the amazing James, was actually inspired by their trips up north. The beautiful foliage and the strong architecture of the church offered the perfect balance of casual elegance, and I'm in love!

We made sure to take full advantage of all of the church's surroundings. Not only were there stunning maple trees, but the church rested right on the edge of a reservoir. You would never know the main road was just up the hill; the grounds were so peaceful. I can imagine sitting under a large maple while reading a book, occasionally looking up to admire the view. It is truly an incredible place. The perfect backdrop for all of the kisses I made James give Ana. Luckily, he loves her a whole lot which means all the feels for these dreamy photos.

I love engagement sessions because I get to witness firsthand the unfiltered love between a couple. We don't always show our true appreciation for our significant others in public for many reasons, but during these sessions I encourage my couples to let it all out. I want to feel the passion and gentleness through the lens, because when I present these images I want them to be a genuine reflection of the couple's relationship (maybe even a little sweeter and more romantic, but who doesn't want that?).

Ana and James, you ROCKED this shoot! Thank you for allowing me to be part of your happily ever after. #couplesgoals
